Türkiye–Somalia Relations: A Multi-Dimensional Partnership Model
November 9, 2025President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made strong remarks regarding the ongoing conflict in Sudan following his return from Azerbaijan. Addressing the situation that has gripped the African nation for nearly two years, Erdoğan emphasized Türkiye’s commitment to supporting the Sudanese people and working toward peace.
Responding to a question about Türkiye’s stance on the developments in Sudan, Erdoğan underlined the importance of strategic planning before taking action.
“First the plan, then the project. We will do these. Moreover, Sudan is a country that constantly waits for Türkiye to extend a helping hand. Every pain, every massacre, every tragedy that takes place there breaks our hearts,” he said.
The President noted that thousands of people have lost their lives and millions have been displaced or forced into exile due to the ongoing conflict, with children suffering from hunger and disease.
Erdoğan expressed deep concern over the humanitarian crisis, describing it as a tragedy that “wounds the conscience of humanity.”
“We believe that this conflict must end as soon as possible and that solutions should be found through dialogue. We are well aware that our responsibility in this regard is heavy,” he stated.
Reaffirming Türkiye’s diplomatic commitment, Erdoğan added:
“As Türkiye, we cannot watch what is happening here from afar. We will continue our diplomatic efforts to ensure peace and security in Sudan. The people of Sudan can be assured that Türkiye stands with them.”
The Turkish leader’s remarks reflect Ankara’s ongoing engagement in African affairs and its emphasis on humanitarian diplomacy amid the deepening crisis in Sudan.
