Erdoğan Condemns Massacres in Sudan’s El-Fashir: “Humanity Cannot Stay Silent”

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a strong message on Sudan, speaking in front of a map of the country, condemning the ongoing atrocities in North Darfur’s El-Fashir and urging the world to act against injustice.

“We cannot be among those who remain silent in the face of injustice. Everyone with a conscience must raise their voice against oppression,” Erdoğan declared.

He described the horrifying images coming from Sudan as “a severe test of humanity,” stressing that “no one of conscience can accept the massacres targeting civilians in North Darfur.” Erdoğan called for the immediate cessation of attacks in El-Fashir and demanded guarantees for the safety of innocent civilians.

“As Turkey, we strongly condemn the atrocities in El-Fashir and state that we are ready to protect the victims,” he said.

Emphasizing Turkey’s longstanding humanitarian role in the region, Erdoğan urged the international community to take “concrete and urgent steps” to end the suffering, noting that “watching is not enough — intervention and support are needed.”

He also commended journalists for exposing the truth:

“The footage shared by journalists shakes consciences. The press’s duty to bring the truth to light is of vital importance.”

Concluding his address, Erdoğan appealed for peace:

“Let there be no brother’s blood spilled; let children, women, and civilians not die. This is a fundamental demand of humanity.”

The remarks come amid escalating violence in El-Fashir, where reports of civilian massacres have drawn global outrage and renewed calls for international action to protect Sudan’s people.
