October 26, 2025Chairman of the Sovereignty Council, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, reiterated Sudan’s commitment to bolstering and expanding relations with Türkiye in ways that serve the mutual interests of both nations and promote cooperation in various fields.
During a meeting held in Port Sudan with the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Sudan, H.E. Fatih Yıldız, both sides discussed the progress of bilateral relations and explored avenues to deepen and diversify cooperation.
Ambassador Yıldız said that the talks touched on several pressing issues, including the siege imposed by the Rapid Support Militia (Janjaweed) on the city of El Fasher, stressing the urgency for the international community to take immediate action to end the blockade and ease the suffering of Sudanese civilians.
The Turkish envoy also highlighted ongoing and planned cooperation initiatives between the two countries, notably the facilitations for reopening the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) office in Sudan, the launch of the Turkish Bank in Port Sudan, and the resumption of Turkish Airlines flights to the country.
Ambassador Yıldız commended the political leadership in both Sudan and Türkiye for their steadfast support of bilateral cooperation, emphasizing that the two nations are committed to enhancing their partnership across multiple sectors to achieve shared development goals.
