Türkiye to Begin Oil Production in Somalia Soon both Offshore and Onshore, says Turkish Energy Minister
October 18, 2025President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan emphasized during his address at the Türkiye-Africa Forum that the ongoing conflict and humanitarian crisis in Sudan deeply affect Turkey as well, calling on the international community to “fulfill its moral duty to humanity.”
“The Bloodshed in Sudan Wounds Our Conscience”
Erdoğan underscored that the civil war in Sudan has turned into a humanitarian catastrophe, stating:
“The ongoing conflicts in Sudan hurt us deeply, just as they do you. We wish to see an immediate ceasefire in the country, followed by the establishment of lasting peace through dialogue. The humanitarian tragedy in Sudan has now reached catastrophic dimensions. Our Sudanese brothers and sisters are not only dying from bullets and bombs, but also from hunger and thirst.”
The President expressed regret that the international community has failed to adequately address the tragedy in Sudan, adding:
“We sadly observe that the global community is not paying sufficient attention to what is happening in Sudan. Stopping the bloodshed there is a duty of humanity.”
“Turkey Stands with Its Brotherly Nation, Sudan”
Erdoğan reaffirmed Turkey’s continued humanitarian support for Sudan, saying:
“As we do in every conflict zone, we are delivering aid to our brotherly nation, Sudan.”
“Africa Still Faces Post-Modern Colonialism”
Turning to broader issues on the African continent, Erdoğan warned that colonialism has not truly ended, but rather transformed into new forms:
“Although colonialism officially ended years ago, it continues to exist through post-modern methods. Those who once viewed Africa as the ‘white man’s burden’ maintain a similar mindset today.”
He criticized the Western world’s indifference toward Africa’s internal conflicts:
“The West unfortunately sees wars, conflicts, and coups in Africa as the continent’s destiny. When there is no economic gain involved, they refrain from taking responsibility. We all know that some actors even fuel these conflicts. As a result, while war enriches some, the innocent civilians are the ones who lose. The burden of conflicts is mostly borne by women and children.”
