Hulusi Akar, Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (TBMM) National Defense Committee and AK Party deputy for Kayseri, met with Sudan’s Ambassador to Ankara, Nadir Yousif Eltayeb, and his accompanying delegation.
During the meeting at his office, Akar underlined that Türkiye has always enjoyed very good relations with Sudan, adding that the two countries have accomplished important work together and that their relations will become even stronger.
Akar stated that significant decisions were taken regarding the Military Training Cooperation Agreement with Sudan, and stressed that they will continue to strengthen this cooperation through mutual consultations. He noted that an agreement was also reached on the training of personnel from the Land, Naval, and Air Forces, and said:
“These efforts are planned not only to benefit our Sudanese brothers and Türkiye, but also to make an important contribution to the stability of the region. Our wish, aim, and desire is for the region to live in stability, peace, and security. Based on our shared history and past, Sudan is our brother. Within this brotherhood, we are ready for all kinds of cooperation.”
Akar added:
“We consider Sudan our brother, our strategic partner, and we will strive to stand by Sudan both in times of peace and crisis.”
Sudan’s Ambassador Eltayeb, for his part, emphasized that Türkiye has always stood by Sudan during its civil war, noting that the war is nearing its end, and expressing their desire to see Türkiye at their side in the post-war process.
“Our Martyrs and Veterans Are Our Pride”
Meanwhile, prior to the meeting, Akar and members of the TBMM National Defense Committee met with the families of martyrs.
During the gathering, Akar stressed that in the efforts carried out with the goal of achieving a “terror-free Türkiye”, there will never be any bargaining, trade-offs, or steps that endanger the nation’s independence and future.
Akar stated:
“In our second meeting with the families of martyrs and associations of veterans, together with members of our National Defense Committee, we gathered valuable input for the draft law we are preparing, which aims to address all the issues of the relevant parties. Every effort is being made to finalize this work as soon as possible. We once again shared President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s letter addressed to the relatives of martyrs, as well as to veterans and their families, which reaffirms the vision of a ‘terror-free Türkiye.’ Our martyrs, veterans, and the families of our martyrs and veterans are our pride.”
