July 28, 2025Türkiye Emerges as Leading Investment Partner at 8th World Industrial and Business Forum in Ethiopia
Türkiye reaffirmed its prominent role as a strategic investment partner for Ethiopia during the 8th World Industrial and Business Forum held in Addis Ababa. With over 30 Turkish companies participating in the trade exhibition, Türkiye demonstrated its commitment to deepening economic ties with Africa’s second-most populous nation.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Taha Alperen, Economic Counselor at the Embassy of Türkiye in Addis Ababa, underscored the strong and historic economic partnership between the two countries. “The economic bonds between Türkiye and Ethiopia are rooted in mutual trust and shared growth. We strongly encourage Turkish investors to take full advantage of Ethiopia’s evolving and investor-friendly environment,” Alperen stated.
Türkiye’s presence at the forum was met with high-level appreciation from Ethiopian officials, including H.E. Dr. Zeleke Temesgen Boru, Commissioner of the Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC), who recognized Türkiye as one of the leading foreign investors in Ethiopia. “Türkiye continues to play a vital role in Ethiopia’s development, especially in sectors like agriculture, manufacturing, ICT, and mining,” he noted.
The forum also highlighted Ethiopia’s sweeping macroeconomic reforms and expanded incentives for investors—tax breaks, customs support, and long-term land lease facilitation—making it a fertile ground for Turkish enterprises to scale their operations.
With trade volume between Türkiye and Ethiopia reaching $650 million in 2021, both countries are now actively working toward raising that figure to $1 billion annually, further solidifying Türkiye’s role as a cornerstone in Ethiopia’s economic transformation.
