Somalia and Tanzania Greenlight Direct Flights: A New Era in Bilateral Relations
July 2, 2025Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has officially unveiled the Centenary Vision 2060 (CV2060), a comprehensive long-term development roadmap designed to transform Somalia into a peaceful, inclusive, and middle-income nation by its 100th anniversary of independence in 2060.
CV2060 sets out strategic objectives focusing on sustainable economic growth, human capital development, inclusive governance, and environmental sustainability, aiming to position Somalia as a regional leader in trade, innovation, and social advancement. The plan is anchored on three key principles: promoting national values, fostering local solutions, and maintaining steadfast commitment to Somalia’s national interests.
“This is a national roadmap for change and a guiding light for our transformational journey over the next 35 years,” President Mohamud declared during the launch ceremony on Monday, June 23, 2025, in Mogadishu. “Somalia must rise above the forces that have long held it back: conflict, insecurity, poverty, droughts, and floods,” he emphasized.
“With the Centenary Vision 2060, Somalia is reclaiming its path, rewriting its history, and reinventing its future with collective determination. The Vision sends a clear message: Somalia will no longer be constrained by the weight of its past, but will forge ahead with commitment and hope.”
