Turkey Delivers T129 ATAK Helicopters to Somalia as Counter-Terrorism Partnership Deepens
June 4, 2025Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister, Jeyhun Bayramov, has launched a series of high-level diplomatic discussions with Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary and Minister for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Musalia Mudavadi, during an official visit to Nairobi.
According to a statement released by Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on social media platform X, the two leaders are engaged in direct talks, focusing on a wide array of bilateral and international issues of shared interest, Caliber.Az reports.
This follows the initial round of political consultations held in early May between Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev and Kenyan foreign affairs officials. Those talks centered on strengthening partnerships in trade, energy, digital transformation, humanitarian aid, and economic development. Both sides also pledged closer coordination within global organizations, including the United Nations and the Non-Aligned Movement.
Earlier in March, Azerbaijani Ambassador Sultan Hajiyev met with Musalia Mudavadi to explore areas of cooperation in sustainable urban planning — particularly in preparation for the 13th UN World Urban Forum and the 2026 World Environment Day.
Climate action remains a cornerstone of the Azerbaijan–Kenya relationship. Kenya played a prominent role at COP29, which was hosted by Baku in 2024. Kenyan Environment Minister Soipan Tuya commended Azerbaijan for its leadership, especially its creation of the COP Troika initiative, aligning the presidencies of COP28 through COP30.
The two nations are also pushing ahead with cooperation in public service innovation. Kenya has expressed interest in Azerbaijan’s ASAN service system, considering its integration into the country’s Huduma framework.
Another milestone in their growing partnership was the signing of a judicial cooperation agreement in 2024, reflecting expanding institutional ties between the two countries.
