April 2, 2025MOGADISHU– Seventy members of the terrorist group Al-Shabaab were killed in an air operation carried out in Somalia’s Lower Shabelle region, officials reported.
In a written statement, Somali Defense Ministry Spokesperson Sheikh Abukar Mohamed said that yesterday, Al-Shabaab militants launched attacks on the towns of Sabiid and Caanoole in the Lower Shabelle region.
Mohamed stated that airstrikes were conducted against the terrorists, resulting in the deaths of 70 militants and the recapture of the strategic towns of Sabiid and Caanoole.
The Somali government has been taking significant steps in recent weeks to weaken the operational capacity of the terrorist organization.
As part of a large-scale offensive launched in the Shabelle region, the Somali army has intensified both ground and air operations against Al-Shabaab.
