41 members of the Al-Shabaab terrorist group were neutralized in air operations conducted by the Somali army.

In a statement by the Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), it was reported that 29 militants were killed in the first operation in the Middle Shabelle region, while 12 were killed in the second operation in the Lower Shabelle region.

The statement emphasized that the operations were part of efforts to reduce Al-Shabaab’s capacity, and civilians were urged to stay away from areas known to be hiding places for the group’s members.

Al-Shabaab attacks outskirts of Somali cities

According to national media reports, Al-Shabaab militants attacked a village near the capital, Mogadishu.

Eyewitnesses stated that the militants carried out an attack on the Xaawo Cabdi village in the Lower Shabelle region.

It was also reported that the group launched a suicide attack targeting a Somali army headquarters in the Awdheegle region.

On March 12, Al-Shabaab carried out an attack on a hotel in the southern Somali city of Beledweyne, killing six people.
