Somalia’s Defense Minister Reports Heavy Losses for al-Shabaab in Ongoing Shabelle Offensive

Somalia’s Minister of Defense, Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur, has provided an update on the ongoing military operation in the Middle Shabelle region, revealing that al-Shabaab militants have suffered significant losses.

According to the minister, at least 400 militants have been killed, including 20 high-ranking commanders, while another 400 were wounded in the offensive. Additionally, 19 military vehicles belonging to the group were destroyed, some of which were loaded with explosives.

“This is a major blow to al-Shabaab,” the minister stated, emphasizing the progress made by government forces and their allies in eliminating the militant threat.

The operation is part of a broader national campaign aimed at eradicating al-Shabaab from Somalia.
