February 25, 2025Libya and Somalia have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) regarding visa exemption for citizens holding diplomatic, service, and special passports of both countries.
A statement from the Libyan Government of National Unity indicated that Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibeh met with Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in the capital, Tripoli, during his visit to Libya.
The statement noted that during the meeting, several cooperation agreements were signed, including the mutual visa exemption for citizens holding diplomatic, special, and service passports.
The two leaders also agreed on increasing diplomatic coordination between their Ministries of Foreign Affairs on common issues.
Additionally, it was stated that a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the municipalities of Tripoli and Mogadishu to support partnership in local governance and urban development.
A statement from the Libyan Presidency Council also mentioned that President of the Presidency Council, Mohammed al-Menfi, officially welcomed Somali President Mohamud.
During the meeting, ways to enhance bilateral relations and restart cooperation in various fields were discussed.
