February 24, 2025Tripoli, Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud arrived in Tripoli, Libya, where he received a warm welcome from Libyan leaders as he embarked on an official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations.
Upon his arrival at Tripoli International Airport, President Mohamud and his delegation were greeted by top Libyan officials, who expressed their commitment to fostering stronger ties with Somalia. The Somali leader thanked the Libyan government and its people for their warm reception and dedication to enhancing cooperation between the two countries.
During his stay in Tripoli, President Mohamud is scheduled to hold high-level talks with the Chairman of Libya’s Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Manfi. Their discussions will focus on regional stability, shared interests, and expanding cooperation in key areas such as security, politics, and migration.
A crucial part of their agenda will also include addressing the challenges faced by Somali migrants detained in Libyan prisons. Both leaders are expected to explore ways to facilitate the safe repatriation and humane treatment of Somali nationals facing hardship in Libya.
