February 21, 2025Ankara, Türkiye – Somali Minister of Defense Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur met with Türkiye’s Minister of National Defense, Yaşar Güler, at the Ministry of National Defense in Ankara to discuss strengthening cooperation between the two nations. The meeting focused on enhancing joint efforts in counterterrorism and improving the training of the Somali National Army.
Minister Nur expressed his gratitude for Türkiye’s unwavering support in Somalia’s fight against terrorism, emphasizing its critical role in ensuring security and stability in the country. Both sides explored new strategies to deepen their partnership, including advanced military training programs and increased defense collaboration.
“Our commitment to fostering a strong partnership with Türkiye goes beyond addressing immediate security challenges; it is about contributing to long-term peace and stability in the region,” said Minister Nur following the meeting.
The discussions reaffirmed the shared determination of Somalia and Türkiye to work together in combating common security threats and further strengthening regional stability.
