February 17, 2025The ruling party of Djibouti, People’s Rally for Progress (RPP), led by Secretary General Ilyas Moussa Dawaleh, visited the AK Party headquarters. During this meaningful visit, an important memorandum of understanding was signed between the two parties.
The discussions aimed to strengthen cooperation between Türkiye and Djibouti and further deepen the relationship between the two countries. After the visit, RPP Secretary General Ilyas Moussa Dawaleh stated that the signed memorandum would not only reinforce political relations but also strengthen collaboration in trade, security, and cultural areas.
The discussions at the AK Party headquarters focused on developments in the Middle East and Africa, with an emphasis on deepening diplomatic relations between Turkey and Djibouti. After the talks, the memorandum of understanding was signed, and it was stated that more projects and strategic steps would be taken based on mutual understanding and cooperation between the two countries.
The memorandum was signed by AK Party’s Foreign Affairs Chairman Zafer Sırakaya, with AK Party Foreign Affairs Vice Chairman and Africa Relations Chairman Emir Yasin Kekeç also present.
This visit and the signed memorandum represent an important step in strengthening the global relations between Türkiye and Djibouti. Additionally, as part of its Africa Opening, the AK Party had previously signed similar memoranda with the ruling parties of Somalia and Ethiopia. Turkey’s relationship with Djibouti is of critical importance, especially concerning strategic developments in the Horn of Africa. In this context, the agreement with Djibouti holds great significance in terms of regional security, economic cooperation, and diplomatic influence.
