February 3, 2025In a powerful statement, Abdirahman Cagaweyne, a member of Somalia’s Federal Parliament, condemned the political landscape shaped by personal interests, which he believes has led to national discontent. Cagaweyne praised President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s leadership, noting the president’s long-standing dedication to bringing Somalia out of darkness and guiding it toward democracy and stability.
Cagaweyne emphasized the progress Somalia has made under Mohamud’s leadership, particularly in advancing the country’s constitution and preparing for the long-awaited one-person, one-vote elections. He highlighted that these critical reforms are reaching their final stages, a testament to the government’s commitment to progress.
Cagaweyne also took aim at Senator Abdi Qeybdiid, urging him to acknowledge the past mistakes and challenges the country faced, including insecurity, famine, and a lack of governance. He stressed that Somalia has moved beyond those difficult times and is now on a path of prosperity, with a clear direction toward completing its constitution and choosing new leadership after 56 years.
