Ethiopia Emerges as a Model of Self-Sufficiency and Economic Resilience, Says Djibouti’s RPP Secretary General
February 1, 2025Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – Zafer Sirakaya, the Foreign Affairs Chief of Turkey’s ruling AK Party, held a significant meeting with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed during his visit to Ethiopia. The visit culminated in the signing of a cooperation agreement between the AK Party and Ethiopia’s ruling Prosperity Party (PP) at the PP’s Ordinary Congress.
The agreement aims to strengthen inter-party and intergovernmental relations, with the Prosperity Party set to benefit from the AK Party’s 25 years of political experience. Sirakaya emphasized the importance of collaboration between the two nations, stating, “From Europe to Asia, from Africa to America, we continue to build a network of compassion worldwide, guided by the vision that ‘a fairer world is possible.'”
During his visit, Sirakaya also met with Ethiopian Muslim leaders and alumni of Turkish educational institutions, further solidifying cultural and diplomatic ties between the two countries.
The memorandum of understanding was signed alongside Adem Farah, Vice President of the Prosperity Party and Deputy Prime Minister of Ethiopia. Sirakaya expressed hope that the agreement would bring success and mutual benefits to both nations, describing Turkey and Ethiopia as “friendly and brotherly countries.”
This development follows the historic agreement mediated by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan (@RTErdogan), which helped ease tensions between Ethiopia and Somalia. The AK Party’s efforts underscore Turkey’s commitment to fostering peace, stability, and cooperation across the globe.
