January 24, 2025Negotiations are currently underway for the release of Azerbaijani ships detained in Eritrea, according to Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.
Speaking to local media, Bayramov confirmed that diplomatic efforts are in progress to resolve the issue and secure the safe return of the vessels. “We are actively engaged with the relevant parties to ensure the situation is resolved as soon as possible,” he stated.
The ships were reportedly detained in Eritrean waters, but further details regarding the circumstances of the detention remain unclear. The Azerbaijani government has not yet disclosed the exact number of vessels involved or the timeline for their potential release.
Bayramov assured that the ministry is prioritizing the matter and coordinating closely with international partners to address any legal or diplomatic challenges that may arise.
