Kenya Faces Rising Concerns Over Kidnappings Amid Growing Security Challenges
January 22, 2025Uganda is looking to strengthen its security ties with Turkey, with the country’s defense officials exploring new opportunities for collaboration in the defense sector. Last month, Uganda’s Defence Minister hosted a Turkish delegation led by Gökhan Uçar, a board member of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), to discuss potential partnerships.
During the meeting, Ugandan officials proposed the idea of establishing a joint manufacturing plant in Uganda for the assembly of artillery parts and drones. The plant would not only support Uganda’s defense capabilities but also enhance local production of key military technologies.
The proposal comes as both nations aim to deepen their defense and security cooperation, fostering a stronger relationship in strategic sectors. Turkish Aerospace Industries, known for its cutting-edge defense technology, has shown a willingness to explore new markets and partnerships to further expand its global presence.
This initiative is seen as a significant step towards boosting Uganda’s defense sector while enhancing bilateral ties between the two countries, paving the way for a more robust collaboration in the coming years.
